Marazon Professional Development System # 8600
The Marazon Professional Development System is a simple yet comprehensive portfolio system that
focuses on the on-going professional development of employees. Employees at all levels of the
organization benefit from this System, which organizes professional development into two categories:
personal and career. The self-paced and self-directed nature of the PDS helps employees recognize the
competencies they bring to the workplace. At the same time, the System encourages employees
develop new competencies in a continuing effort to reach their fullest potential. The PDS integrates
and organizes personal and career information within a set of self-assessment tools, employer
observation tools, plan of actions journals, and employee conference forms to ensure consistency,
intentionality, and accountability within an organization.
Marazon Mentorship Program # 8800
The Marazon Mentorship Program is designed to support curriculum coordinators and building leaders
in their role as a Marazon mentor and coach. Three levels of mentorship are supported through the
Program: Intern, Mentor, and Master Mentor. At all level of the program, mentors learn to provide
on-going support to staff, enabling them to successfully implement Developmentally Appropriate
Practice (DAP) and the Marazon System. The Mentorship Program develops mentors who are able to
systematically support and challenge their protégés to initiate, maintain, and continually improve upon
their DAP and Marazon practices. Marazon Mentors become competent in sharing their own successes
as well as in tutoring, modeling, and teaching new, substitute, and veteran staff best classroom, family
childcare, home visitor practices. The Mentorship Program provides staff with the consistent on-going
support and oversight that is often impossible to achieve in programs that have large numbers of staff
and frequent turnover.
