|KWS En Plein Air
KWS has two En Plein Air groups. One meets on the first and third Tuesday of the
month, while the other meets on Saturdays. Pat Hagan leads the Tuesday group and
Lynne Christenson leads the Saturday group. They each follow a similar format: meet at
a given location (usually around 9:30 am), enjoy working in solitude or join a group,
sketch and/or paint in the area until mid day, picnic on a bag lunch, and then participate
in an informal critique of the work from that morning.
Some choose to stay the afternoon, finishing a painting or starting a new one. Others
call it a day after lunch and take their Plein Air inspiration home with them.
These groups are informal and no experience is required. Simply come and enjoy
working outside and painting on the spot.
Though Plein Air destinations are often in Jefferson County, members meet in other
locations around Central Kentucky, as well.
There is a nominal fee for the year: $10.00 to cover the expense of gifts presented to
those generous enough to share their beautiful open air sites with us.
These Plein Air groups are open to all KWS members.
They each maintain interactive email lists for the purpose of discussion and
communicating destinations for future meetings. If you are interested in joining the fun
or obtaining more information regarding either of these groups, please contact KWS. For
the Tuesday group you may contact Connie Kuhn and for the Saturday group you may
contact Lynne Christenson.
Now that it's winter the Tuesday, Brush With Nature, Plein Air group is meeting at the
KWS Gallery the first and third Tuesday of the month.
